The mapping of translation in the Mediterranean Area, which is carried out with the Anna Lindh Foundation and fifteen other partners, is currently being finalized. Discover now the sixty studies already published on our website, dealing with translation from and into Turkish, from and into Arabic, from and into Hebrew. In a few weeks, general conclusions, synthesis and recommendations will be published as a result of an 18-months long work. They will be available on Transeuropéennes website and will be followed by a series of events aiming at diffusing them in France, Europe and in the Mediterranean area...
In the past weeks, Transeuropéennes' issue on the Arab revolutions and uprisings has grown richer with important contributions.Historian of the contemporary, Nora Benkorich, questions the postulate of the Islamist failure in the Egyptian and Tunisian revolutions , whilst stage directors Fadhel Jaïbi (Tunis) and Ahmed El Attar (Cairo) shed light on the cultural stakes of the current mutations. A deeper understanding of the Tunisian events is proposed with Fethi Benslama's analysis of its arising and symbol through the psychoanalytical lens, with the sociologist Olfa Lamloum's specific interest in actors, and with the historian Kmar Bendana's thoughts on whether it is possible for historians to reflect on the present. Last but not least, regarding Lybia, Ivan Ivekovic provides readers with precious tools for understanding what is at stake.
In parallel, the logbook of the translation of the European Vocabulary of Philosophy continues to grow, thanks to Fernando Santoro who encourages us to cross the oceans.

Transeuropéennes continues to give the floor to Arab intellectuals, this time on Syria, with the long interview made for the journal by Jumana al-Yasiri (Damascus/Paris) with the film director Oussama Mohammad (Damascus/currently in Paris). The "PUTTING THE EMPHASIS ON THE 14th OF JANUARY" event, co-organized with Siwa Platform, was an opportunity to talk about the position of artists in the Arab insurrections.
As an international platform for critical thinking, Transeuropéennes privileges the publication of texts written specially for the journal, or contributed by writers and/or translators. Where possible, these texts appear in four languages; which entails considerable translation costs.
